Well, first thing’s first, I’d like to present the latest addition to the INVITATIONS portfolio, the wedding invitation for Jessica Blue and Jason Rabinowitz! This 2-color letterpress invite was hand-pressed on Crane’s 100% cotton paper by Madeleine Zygarewicz of Panorama Press.

I was given complete freedom to create this fantastic forest invitation for a wedding that will be held in New York’s Fort Tryon Park at the New Leaf Cafe. It was a real pleasure to design, we made a custom die cut for the tree, and then hand-folded and assembled its pop-up feature.

Fort Tryon is home to the Cloisters, which holds the famous “Unicorn in Captivity” Tapestry. Among many animals in the invitation I made for Jess and Jason, I included this very same unicorn, except the gate is open, referring to the concept that love, like art, is not a spectator sport, and lovers decide to choose each other every day. The age-old saying goes “Flowers bloom where they have room, and this is true of people too.” Jason and Jessica’s union is good for the world around them, they possess true acceptance of their own and each other’s individuality and separateness, which is the foundation of a real and lasting love.  I know, I know, all that in ONE little unicorn drawing! But yes, that’s the message there!
